Does your company display a trademark or business name in a language other than French? You have until June 1, 2025 to comply with the new provisions of the Charter of the French Language.

If you need to modify your public signage to comply with the new rules, don't delay in making the necessary corrections. To help you prepare, consult the guide put together by the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF).

Asof June 1, 2025, businesses will have to ensure that all public signage visible from the exterior of their premises that includes a recognized trademark or company name in a language other than French :

  • is accompanied by terms in French, such as a generic, description or slogan;
  • respects the rule of clear predominance of French, in the same visual field as the company name or trademark.
