On September 25, the SDC District Central held its 2025 BGA, an important annual event for the organization. SDC members have the privilege of voting on the annual budget proposed by their peers on the Board of Directors.
Here are the highlights:

  • The SDC's latest impact report shows that results are very good and that strategies are working to develop the territory and its businesses;

  • To explain the 2025 budget, SDC treasurer Laetitia Bedout explained the variances with the 2024 forecasts;
  • The largest variance is explained by revenues and expenses from the Fonds signature métropole for the deployment of phase 3 of the Plan d'interventions Signature du District Central;
  • 800,000 will come from public funds (grants);
  • Membership dues have been stable since 2020, but will increase in a reasonable manner in 2025:
    • Minimum floor: from $75 to $86.47 for small premises
    • Maximum ceiling: $900 to $1037.70 for large surface areas
  • The SDC is working on a number of financial levers to ensure the scope and sustainability of its actions, including increasing the financial participation of property owners;
  • The members of the assembly finally adopted an operating budget of $2,018,855.14.

To raise the profile of the Central District's business hubs, this year the SDC joined forces with the M.A.D. Festival, fashion, art and entertainment, last August.

Board Chair Delia De Gasperis took the opportunity to review the 2024 highlights achieved to date. These included

Networking
The BGA was followed by an opportunity to network with the businesses in attendance. Enhanced by delicious pizzas from Restaurant Giulietta at Marché Central, this was a great opportunity to network with the District Central business community.

The President of the Board of Directors, Delia De Gasperis, commended the professionalism and dedication of the SDC team, who approached each project with seriousness and commitment, playing a key role in the development of District Central.

THANK YOU!

The Board of Directors would like to thank you for sharing in our ambitions to breathe new life into our legendary district, raise its profile and propel it to the top of the Montreal business scene!
